How to Make a Picture Rounded in Photoshop
If you want to add a unique touch to your images, rounding the corners can be a great way to achieve that. Photoshop offers various tools and techniques to help you round the corners of your pictures. Whether you are a professional photographer or a hobbyist, this guide will walk you through the process of making a picture rounded in Photoshop.
Step 1: Open Your Image in Photoshop
The first step is to open the image you want to round the corners of in Photoshop. You can do this by going to File > Open and selecting your image from the file browser.
Step 2: Create a New Layer
Next, you need to create a new layer on top of your original image. To do this, click on the “Layer” menu at the top of the screen and select “New” > “Layer.” You can name this layer “Rounded Corners” for easy identification.
Step 3: Select the Ellipse Tool
With the new layer selected, go to the toolbar on the left side of the screen and select the Ellipse Tool (it looks like a circle). You can also press ‘U’ on your keyboard to quickly access the tool.
Step 4: Set the Radius
Before you start rounding the corners, you need to set the radius of the rounded corners. This can be done by adjusting the “Radius” slider in the Options Bar at the top of the screen. The larger the radius, the more rounded the corners will be.
Step 5: Draw the Ellipse
With the Ellipse Tool selected and the radius set, click and drag on your image to draw an ellipse. Make sure to draw the ellipse around the corners you want to round. If you want to round all four corners, you can draw the ellipse around the entire image.
Step 6: Create a Layer Mask
To hide the parts of the image that you don’t want to be rounded, create a layer mask for the “Rounded Corners” layer. Click on the “Add Layer Mask” button at the bottom of the Layers Panel (it looks like a rectangle with a white circle inside). This will create a mask that hides the area outside the ellipse.
Step 7: Refine the Corners
To refine the corners, you can use the Eraser Tool (E) to remove any excess areas around the rounded corners. You can also use the Dodge and Burn Tools (O) to adjust the lighting and shadows to make the rounded corners look more natural.
Step 8: Save Your Work
Once you are satisfied with the rounded corners, don’t forget to save your work. You can do this by going to File > Save As and choosing the desired file format and location.
By following these simple steps, you can easily round the corners of your images in Photoshop. Experiment with different radii and techniques to find the perfect look for your photos. Happy editing!
